Field+Fold is a lifestyle brand built on our belief that luxury can coexist with nature and elevated wellness should be available in everyday life.
After more than 40 years of experience in architecture, and 30 years operating as our firm, FC Studio Inc, we began the journey of creating our own brand of wellness experiences. We’ve intricately studied the science and art of space through decades of experience with luxury residential homes, historic refurbishments, restaurants, resorts, and commercial workplaces. We’ve worked with some of the best in the hospitality industry and know what it means to build an experience that feels as good as it looks and that lasts.
Architecture is not just a study of design, it’s an emotional experience within a space, incorporating layers of its history, purpose and vision. From functionality and flow to comfort and aesthetic, our prefabricated designs bring this level of research and expertise to each cabin and sauna. We have taken an holistic approach to everything we do and incorporated it into Field+Fold ensuring every experience in the space leaves you wanting more.

inspired by life by lake michigan
From our city-lake life in Chicago (where we are based) to the slow coastal Michigan towns, dunes and forests (where we retreat), our inspiration for Field+Fold draws from life by Lake Michigan. We’ve traveled the world enjoying wellness and nature, but we really fell in love with our time spent on a farm in Michigan, right here in the Midwest.
Lake Michigan can feel like an ocean itself, which inspired our term “Midcoast,” a play on being both in the middle and on the coast of a Great Lake.
Harsh winters, perfectly cool summers, and the gifts of gathering with friends and family are in our blood. We saw a need for luxury around shared wellness in this area of the country—so we built it.
We work closely with our manufacturing partner, PreFabPads, based in Waukegan, IL. Their team has expert experience building our architectural dreams. Each sauna and cabin is crafted from top notch materials that can weather the lakeside climate and feel as elevated as they look.
Our own sauna inspires us to keep getting outside in nature through all seasons. Family and friends flock to our property; gathering to sauna, to eat, to bee-keep and to hike through the Michigan terrain—yours will too.
